Nibblebit is Back

After a recent Train Smash at Nibblebit, where some sicko posted child pornography. The company that hosted the Nibblebit servers simply wiped out EVERYONE'S blogs! :-( Instead of closing the offending blog and prosecuting where necessary, they simply deleted the entire server and this resulted in all Nibblebit blogs being closed and with all previous posts and pics being lost.

A big shout out to Nibblebit for getting things up and running as soon as possible and for undertaking to do off-site backups in the future.

So ...... we start again. This is the last time though. I am still offended by bloggers recent closure of so many gay blogs without any explanation of what supposed "Terms of Service" were being contravened. I am so happy at Nibblebit even despite the recent happening. Their help desk is SUPER prompt and helpful.

So get over there and visit my restarted blog. Nibblebit deserve all the support they can get.

So… I am getting into Nibblebit and thoroughly loving it! Why did it take me so long to discover Nibblebit? While there may not be as many widgets available on Nibblebit as on Blogger…. who cares. Is a blog all about widgets?

Irrespective of the claims of Blogger, by first hand experience I can vouch that Blogger is DEFINITELY homophobic. Do we need to suffer homophobia in 2009?

I have decided to carry on blogging :-)

It is still very much a work in progress obviously but hopefully soon I will be fully up and running.

I do appeal to all my friends to link to my new blog in their blog rolls. The success of this blog (prior to it being closed down by blogger) was all due to the support of the many friends that I made in recent months. I have not had time yet to fully complete a blog list to my new blog but as soon as I get around to it I will obviously link back to all of your blogs as well. Please assist me.

So... I have registered at nibblebit.com and it is interesting. Very different from blogger in many ways and in some ways even better. It will take a bit of getting used to but I am learning fast. as soon as I have finally made my decision as to whether I am going to carry on then I will post the actual link here. But right now.... things are looking good :-)

Had a really hectic day at work today. Got home and saw so many emails in my inbox as well as 2 comments on this blog that have made me think about the future of my blogging.

At this stage I have not decided to carry on with blogging but I am certainly going to check out the alternatives. Thanks to Nil Street for the advice on Nibblebit.com I intend to check it out.

Blogging is simply too much work to have someone then willy nilly block your blog. Like I said in the previous post, I guess that I may actually have been in contravention of some or other term of service but all I really needed was communication from Google / Blogger. I would have immediately rectified the situation and also learnt from my mistake so that I do not repeat it.

Those of you who have read the Blogger "Terms of Service" will I am sure agree that they they are hardly 100% clear or all encompassing and leave huge amounts to interpretation. Blogger also seems to only apply them to certain blogs or am I just being paranoid?

All I needed from Blogger was some communication! We are living in a world where on a daily basis we see what can be achieved by simple communication. Damn, I would venture to say that probably all of the worlds problems could and would be solved with simple communication.

I have no objection to Blogger having blocked my blog if in fact I was in contravention of some or other term of service. A simple notification would have been more than enough for me to immediately rectify the situation. But how does one rectify a situation if you don't know what to rectify?

Anyway.... enough moaning for tonight. I will consider my options and then post my final decision here on this blog within a week. Should I decide to indeed carry on blogging then I will obviously post the link to my new blog.

To all my friends and readers, please check back from time to time until I have made my final decision.

Am I pissed off? YES!

Why? - well.... I have no idea why it was closed by Google. Once your blog has been closed by Google you have an option to request a review which I duly did on the 18th August 2009. When requesting a review you are then taken to this page (see below).

As can be seen from the pic above my request for a review was submitted on 18 August 2009 and Google made a commitment to review it within 2 business days. Today is 23 August 2009 and to date no one from Google has had the courtesy to at least tell me to piss off or even to F*%$ off which would have been far better that being totally ignored.

I have read and re-read their "Terms of Service" over and over again. I still have NO IDEA why my blog was locked. In fact, having read their "Terms of Service" over and over again and here is my prediction: Within a short period of time ALL GAY ORIENTATED BLOGS THAT POST PICS WILL BE CLOSED DOWN. Or...... are their "Terms of Service" applicable to certain blogs only?

I am guessing but the only two possibilities as far as I understand their "Terms of Service" that could have caused them to block my blog could be:

I did have money making links to some gay porn sites BUT.... their terms of service clearly state that only if the majority of posts carry links to Porn sites for financial gain is it in contravention of their "Terms of Service". In no way did the majority of my post contain these links. In fact, I very carefully kept those kind of posts to the minority.
Possible contravention of copyright pics. Now..... which blog that posts pics does not from time to time post pics that are freely available on the internet. Pics that one may get in your email or pics that are offered freely on various sites or even pics that may be taken from other blogs.

Wherever it was possible I ALWAYS gave credit for pics where credit was due. Even in cases where I have posted pics that I had noticed on other blogs I always referred back to the original blog.

Wouldn't it have been nice to have been notified that my blog was in contravention of their "Terms of Service" because of this or that. If that had been done I would have immediately rectified the situation.

As any blogger knows, it takes time and effort to keep up a blog.

I have alwasy had such respect and admiration for all things Google, however this most recent experience has left a somewhat bitter taste in my mouth. The TOTAL lack of ANY sort of response from Google was something that I never expected.

Anyway, I see no point in starting again as chances are that I may yet once again contravene some or other "Term of Service" since I do not even have the privilege of knowing in which way I contravened which particular term of service. As I am human (when last I checked), chances are that I may repeat the unknown mistake once again and the have my blog blocked all over again.

To the many friends that I have made during my blogging experience, I will miss you all. To the over 1000 readers on a daily basis, I apologise for what has happened. I wish I could continue but I just cannot see the point of continuing.

For me it is back to the real world for now. I was getting slightly too involved in the cyber world anyway.
